She is married to Alan Gerwig of Charleston, West Virginia, and together they have three children- Jessica Chusid, Dane Gerwig, and Luke Gerwig. She is also a proud grandmother to Leighton, Millie, and Rory Chusid. A Christian by faith, she enjoys motorcycle riding, traveling, yardwork, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Gerwig's public service career includes her election to the Florida House of Representatives in 2024. She is also an active board member of both the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency (TPA) and the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council (TCRPC).

Beyond elected office, she has contributed to various organizations, including chairing the Palm Beach County Citizens Advisory Board for Health & Human Services and serving as a board member and past president of the Palm Beach County League of Cities. Additionally, she founded a consulting engineering firm.
