BioMarie Paule Woodson, a dedicated public administrator and legislator, has been serving in the Florida House of Representatives since 2020, earning reelection in subsequent terms. Born in Port-de-Paix, Haiti, she moved to Florida in 1981 and built a distinguished career in public service.
Woodson pursued her education in public administration and criminal justice, earning an AS from Miami-Dade College in 1984, a BS in Criminal Justice from Florida International University in 1987, and an MS in Public Administration/Management from St. Thomas University in 1994. She is married to Robert James "Bob" Woodson of Baltimore, MD, and they have two children, Bradley J. Woodson and Kelly M. Woodson.
A practicing Catholic, Woodson enjoys reading, spending time with family, and walking or jogging in her free time. Her commitment to community service is reflected in her active participation in organizations such as the City of Hollywood Neighborhood Watch Advisory Board (2019-2020) and the Miami-Dade County Commission for Women, where she served as Chairwoman (2016-2018) and Board Member (2014-2020). She is also involved with the Democratic Haitian American Caucus of Florida and the League of Women Voters of Broward County.
Woodson's contributions have been widely recognized, earning her accolades such as the Miami-Dade County Commission for Women Chairwoman Appreciation Recognition (2018) and the Outstanding Leadership Award (2018). She was also honored for 35 years of service in government by Miami-Dade County in 2018. Other notable awards include the Marie Claire Heureuse Leadership Award (2017), the Women of Excellence Award (2015), and the Women of Impact Award from the Women's History Coalition of Miami-Dade County, Inc. (2012).
