BioAs a proud product of immigrant parents, I've dedicated my time and effort to shaping the future of North Carolina. My journey began in the vibrant neighborhoods of Charlotte, where the values instilled by my parents, hard work, and community support became the foundation of my aspirations.
Educationally, I walked the halls of Harding High School, where I learned the importance of resilience and the transformative power of education.
Following this, I attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where I pursued a dual major in Economics and Political Science. This academic foundation, coupled with my involvement in various leadership positions, including serving as the president of College Democrats, significantly shaped my perspective on civic engagement and governance. These experiences have become the bedrock of my approach to economic development, blending theoretical knowledge with practical insights to foster sustainable growth and inclusive community involvement.
My professional journey started in the banking sector, providing me with invaluable insights into economic systems and the financial landscape of our community. A detour into entrepreneurship deepened my understanding of the challenges faced by small businesses, fostering a commitment to supporting local enterprises. Today, I navigate the ever-evolving realm of technology, leveraging innovation for societal progress.
Beyond my professional endeavors, my commitment to community service led to a significant role as the Mayor-appointed Chair of the Charlotte Equitable Development Commission. In this capacity, I actively contribute to shaping policies that ensure the city's growth is not just substantial but inclusive, benefitting all residents.
In the political arena, I had the honor of serving as the Chair of the Black Political Caucus, the largest political organization in the city. This role allowed me to champion diversity, representation, and community engagement, proving that collective action can bring about meaningful change.
Now, as I embark on the journey to represent District 41 in the North Carolina Senate, I bring with me a rich tapestry of experiences, a fervent commitment to equitable progress, and a vision for a North Carolina where opportunities abound for everyone. Join me in building a future where education is empowering, economic prosperity is shared, and our community thrives united. Together, let's script a legacy of leadership and opportunity for North Carolina.
