The Georgia ASCD Strategic Plan

Goal #1: To impact student learning through professional practice guided by research based products, programs and services.
 
1.
Publish research abstracts and effective practices in The Reporter.
 
2.
Host at least 3 drive in conferences around the state.
 
3.
Host an annual conference.
 
4.
Orientation for new board members – include History of GA ASCD, and P, P, S available.
 
5.
Board members participate in a book study.
 
6.
Staff development at board meetings.
 
7.
Use web page to share ideas and advertise.
 
8.
District directors share information with district and submit conference session proposals.

Goal #2: To Build a more vital, diverse community of members that collaboratively shapes teaching, learning, and leadership.
 
1.
Endeavor to gain membership on or attend Boards that may influence education in the state of Georgia.
 
2.
Update membership roster to Executive Board by email or hardcopy.
 
3.
Add and maintain database/including tool on web to update contact information and notification of renewal.
 
4.
Welcome packet with (gift-pin, etc.).
 
5.
Recruit members for both the Executive Board and general membership to reflect a broad spectrum of professional positions.
 
6.
Solicit and design conference offerings which expand cultural diversity and multi-cultural educational opportunities.
 
7.
Maintain viability of student GASCD Chapter1. Maintain viability of student GASCD Chapter.
 
8.
Develop an outreach program and linkages to recruit student teachers and graduate students into full membership.
 
9. Develop a network of system contact persons within each district.
   
10. Contact ASCD members as potential Georgia ASCD members.
   
11. Revise membership brochure.

Goal #3: To develop reflective practioners by enhancing educators' capacity to address complex problems.
   
1.
To provide forums for issues/trends in education through publications (print and web based) meetings and conferences.
 
2.
To provide information to membership concerning resources from ASCD and other organizations concerning issues/trends in education.
 
3.
To recognize educators for quality contributions to education in Georgia.
 
4.
To co-sponsor opportunities with other education related organizations to collaborate in planning and conducting workshops, meetings and/or conferences.
 
5.
To develop electronic bulletin boards for use in shared discussion concerning issues/trends in education.
 
6.
Create an active committee that identifies issues and monitors legislative activities.
 
7.
Create an influence plan that aligns strategically with all other activities of the affiliate and the association.
 
8.
Provides stories/samples of effective strategies and ideas used throughout the state.
 
9. Identify themes and topics as focus for year or multi-year attention.
   
10. Identifies members needs.
   
11. Offer professional development opportunities that address needs of the membership.
   
12. Provides opportunities for sustained work in learning communities.
