Referrals for service are made through the Local Education Agency (LEA)
by parents, schools, community agenencies, and private agencies. Students from ages five to twenty-one have been typically
enrolled in other classes and have a documented need for more restrictive placements. A parent or legal guardian's signature
is required on each referral form.
The intensity of services is determined by a consensus of the committee involved in serving the child. Parental consent must
by given by the parent/legal guardian before services can begin.
