Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
Heart of Georgia RESA’s WIA provides economically disadvantaged youth/adults and dislocated workers with individualized opportunities to acquire the necessary skills to build their future through education, career planning, career development and career placement
Programs available:
Individual Training Accounts (ITA)
On-the-Job Training (OJT)
Trade Adjustment Act (TAA)
Youth Services
Program may assist eligible customers with:
Tuition ~ Books ~ Supplies ~ Uniforms ~ Childcare ~ Transportation
Job Search Assistance ~ Case Management
Paid Work Experience for Youth
Service Area:
Bleckley, Dodge, Johnson, Laurens, Montgomery (youth only), Telfair, Treutlen, Wheeler and Wilcox
Eligibility Requirements:
(WIA is not an entitlement program and the following is a partial listing of consideration requirements:)
- Youth – ages 14 – 21
- In-School and Out-of-School
- Low-Income (LLSL)
- Laid off or unemployed
- Registered with GDOL
- Reside in service area
- Registered with Selective Service (Males only)
- ITA Program:
- Enrolled in technical college, college or university in an approved program of study
- GPA 2.5 or higher
- Full-time student (12 credit hours or more)
